WELCOME to the Newport Showhouse Website:

Founded in 1994 the Newport Showhouse Guild is a 501c(3) Rhode Island charitable corporation with the mission of raising funds for Newport and its surrounding county charities by producing designer show houses. The benefiting charities are usually selected for their aid to women and children, and in the mentoring, education and welfare of children. We call this Charity by Design.

Having produced six designer show house events, the Newport Showhouse Guild has a substantial history of significant contribution of donations and funds raised for charitable purposes. It is staffed and operated entirely by volunteers.

Opening with a show house at The Swinburne School, the Guild raised over $70,000 for improvements to the school. The next show house at Swanhurst estate on Newport’s Bellevue Avenue raised $50,000 for Lucy’s Hearth and The Women’s Resource Center of Newport. Bristol’s Mount Hope Farm raised over $100,000 for improvements to the town-owned grounds and buildings and an additional $100,000 for The Mount Hope Land Trust and The Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Newport County.

After 9/11/2001, the Guild ceased publishing the amount of its gifts. Quail Tree House, Edith Warton’s summer home, raised funds for The Women’s Resource Center, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Center with an additional gift to Sail Newport. Terrazzo Sasso in 2004 benefited five charities: City Year Rhode Island, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, Lucy’s Hearth, Star Kids, and Visiting Nurses of Newport and Bristol Counties. In 2006 the Guild’s Two Showhouse Event at Carnegie Abbey benefited the Star Kids Scholarship Program and The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of Newport County.

It is with great pleasure the Newport Showhouse Guild announces the 2008 show house event, Inspired Design. The guild is venturing to Ocean Road in Narragansett to “Southwind”, the home of Judge Frank and Joyce Caprio. The show house opens to the public on Saturday, May 10, 2008 and closes Sunday June 7, 2008. There will be two wonderful gatherings prior to the opening – our Barebones Party on March 7th and our opening Preview Gala on Thursday evening, May 8th. Please look further on this website for details. We look forward to seeing you this spring!
